An end-of-life doula (sometimes called a death doula) is a holistic non-medical professional who provides emotional, practical, informational, and spiritual support to individuals and families navigating serious illness, dying, and grief.
While every family and individual’s needs are different, support may include companionship, legacy projects, advance care planning, vigil support, caregiver respite, and helping loved ones feel more prepared for what lies ahead.
-
No. My role is to complement—not replace—your existing care team.
Hospice, physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains each provide essential services. As an end-of-life doula, I offer additional emotional support, guidance, education, and compassionate presence that can help fill the spaces between medical visits, and help advocate for your wishes.
While I provide emotional support, I am not a licensed therapist, mental health crisis provider, or medical professional, and I do not provide emergency or crisis intervention services.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or believe there is a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately. You can also call or text 988 to reach to Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States for free, confidential support 24 hours a day.
-
There is no “right” time.
Some people reach out shortly after a diagnosis, while others don’t seek support until hospice has begun or death is near.
You don’t need to wait for a crisis. In fact, beginning earlier often allows more time for meaningful conversations, planning, and legacy work.
-
We’ll spend about 30 minutes getting to know one another.
You’ll have the opportunity to share what’s happening, your story, ask questions, and learn more about how I work. If it feels like a good fit, we can discuss what kind of support would be most helpful.
There’s no pressure or obligation to move forward.

Yes. I can help you understand common advance care planning documents, organize your thoughts, and prepare for conversations with your loved ones and healthcare providers.

Yes.
I offer companion animal end-of-life support for individuals and families preparing to say goodbye to a beloved pet, and for those struggling with post-loss grief.
Support may include decision-making conversations, goodbye planning, presence during euthanasia (when desired and appropriate), remembrance ideas, and legacy projects that honor the bond you shared.
-
Not at all.
I support people of all faiths, belief systems, and cultural backgrounds, including those who identify as spiritual, secular, agnostic, or atheist.
My role is to honor your values, not to bring my own beliefs into your experience.
-
That’s completely okay.
Most people reach out simply because they know they could use support but aren’t sure what that looks like yet.
You don’t need to have all the answers before contacting me.
-
Visits are typically scheduled in two-hour blocks, though the exact structure depends on the services you’ve selected and your family’s needs.
If additional support is needed, extra time can be added at my hourly rate.
